Summary

The Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations (FEAFFA) with support from GIZ KENYA rolled out the sensitization of customs agents and freight forwarders on the AfCFTA in Kenya.

The Programme aims updating the Customs Agents and Freight Forwarders on the AfCFTA agreement, the status of implementation, opportunities and challenges under the new trade regime, their distinct role in the AfCFTA and how the new trade will affect the trade in East Africa and Africa as a whole.

Objectives

  • Discuss the connection between AfCFTA and the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and
  • Update on the status of Kenya in implementing the pertinent articles of the TFA.

Expected outcome

  • Increased understanding of the AfCFTA agreement, the status of implementation, opportunities and challenges under the new trade regime and the distinct role Customs Agents and Freight Forwarders.
  • Increased trading under the the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
